Pyroxene from Vesuvius, Italy rock thin section Pendant (P48)
A thin rock section of Leucite was viewed by polarised light microscopy. This igneous lava rock contains leucite (dark grey) and colourful pyroxene crystals in a volcanic glass matrix.
From Vesuvius, Italy, probably from the 1944 eruption.
These colourful and interesting microscope photo pendants are 22mm in diameter and measure 34mm from the top of the bail to the bottom of the pendant. The pendants are silver plated and supplied with an 18 inch (45cm) silver plated chain. The image has been printed onto glossy metal which is sealed underneath a glass magnifying dome. As the images are printed onto metal there are reflections from both the metal and the glass resulting in the image having more 'depth'.
Supplied in a gift box complete with a description of the image.
