Caffeine crystals under the microscope coaster (C34)

This caffeine crystal coaster would make a great gift for a coffee lover!

A solution of pure caffeine was evaporated on a microscope slide to form crystals. By viewing these crystals using polarised light microscopy, amazing and interesting colours and patterns are seen. This is due to the crystals forming regular arrays and interfering with the light path to give the colours seen (no colours were changed using Photoshop).

90mm square coasters printed by dye sublimation to give a vibrant, high gloss, scratch resistant finish.
