Chemistry mobile phone stand - citric acid crystals by polarised light microscopy (PS4)

This smartphone / cellphone stand would make an attractive and useful gift for someone, or would hold your own phone on your desk, kitchen counter to follow recipes, on your nightstand / bedside table for you to be able to see without having to pick it up. It holds all iPhones and smartphones and tablets up to 8 inches (landscape orientation only for tablets).

A solution of citric acid was evaporated on a microscope slide to form crystals. By viewing these crystals using polarised light microscopy, amazing and interesting colours and patterns are seen. This is due to the crystals forming regular arrays and interfering with the light path to give the colours seen (no colours were changed using Photoshop).

These useful and interesting stands measure 15cm tall by 7cm wide and the height of the upright support above the 'shelf' is 13cm. They come flat packed in a cellophane bag so will fit through your letterbox and have a description of the image on the back. They are glossy and scratch resistant meaning they will give years of service.
